Comments this week by two of the biggest Apple observers regarding the Apple Vision Pro caught my attention.
From John Siracusa on the Accidental Tech Podcast regarding his experience trying the Apple Vision Pro demo at the Apple Store:
They didn't mention anything about buying one. They didn't tell me anything about it. They didn't tell me the price.
They didn't tell me I could buy one. They were just completely uninterested in selling me this thing.
And from John Gruber on Daring Fireball:
Tellingly, Apple — universally regarded as one of the best marketing companies in the world — has bought very little advertising to promote Vision Pro.
Combine these observations with the surprisingly limited Apple Vision Pro content by Apple since its launch, and it almost makes me wonder if Apple isn’t trying very hard to sell this first iteration of the Vision headset.
After all, even some of those disappointed by the Apple Vision Pro ecosystem say it is an amazing product with so much potential.
Here is Casey Liss from that same ATP podcast:
When this thing is on, like this immersive video and some of the apps that are on it, it is just unlike anything I've ever experienced. It's so cool and you should really try it.
And Marco Arment from the ATP podcast:
Oh, it's an amazing demo. If you haven't ever tried it before, you will walk away fencing (?), oh my God, that's amazing!
It’s a mystery to me. The Apple Vision Pro is impressive with so much potential, yet Apple appears to be doing very little to promote it at this time.
