I asked GPT-4 to write a poem about network-based intrusion detection. I think the result is pretty good, and the result is definitely better than what this human could produce. I then asked my Mac to read the poem out loud in Siri’s voice. Apple really needs to improve their text-to-speech.
In a realm unseen by human eye,
Where binary pulses 'cross the sky,
Lies a fortress in the cloud,
Shrouded in a digital shroud.
Network flowing, data streams,
A world awash in code-filled dreams,
Yet in the shadows danger lies,
Silent, waiting, to arise.
With malintent, some traverse this plane,
Seeking secrets, causing pain,
A coded whisper, a silent breach,
Into defenses, they seek to leach.
Yet stand we ready, vigilant and tall,
Our detection systems scanning all,
Invisible guardians, their watch not ceased,
Seeking out the digital beast.
Intrusion detection, our noble quest,
Against the threats we stand abreast,
Monitoring packets, inspecting flow,
To catch the shadows that grow.
Anomalies rise, a pattern breaks,
The silent guardian awakes,
Alarms are sounding, lights turn red,
Intrusion detected, the network said.
Swift response, the systems engage,
Battling in this digital age,
Firewalls rising, defenses meet,
The intrusion attempt faces defeat.
Though the battle may be unseen,
In the realm of the machine,
Every day, in data's tide,
Stand those who in trust abide.
Guardians of our network vast,
Against the storm, they hold the mast,
In code and silence, their vigil kept,
While in our beds, we soundly slept.
Intrusion detection, silent, stern,
In the data flow, they discern,
In the network's endless song,
They listen for the notes that wrong.
So rest we easy, work we free,
In their digital custody,
In the echoes of the cyberspace,
They keep our secrets, safe in place.
