Just a quick update of my weekend project first mentioned in the “Flying over DEM Data" post. I’ve upped the grid size and added normals to smooth out the tiling effect. The video and screenshot are from my iPad Pro. The 5 km x 5 km elevation grid of data is from Canada’s polar region.
Not shown here, but I’ve also started processing data sets from Mars via the HiRISE project. Hopefully next weekend I’ll generate some flyovers of some Mars landscapes.
Not sure why, but the YouTube video quality kind of sucks compared to the original, much clearer video. On my iPad Pro it is beautiful at 120 FPS. The grandeur of the landscape loses something on my iPhone XS Max.
