Apple Vision Pro and panoramic photos

In 2012, Apple introduced the ability to take panoramic photos with iOS 6 on the iPhone 5. I tried it a few times, but I found viewing panoramic photos on my iPhone and Mac kind of dumb.

Nearly 12 years later, panoramic photos finally make a sense. They look gorgeous when viewing them in Apple Vision Pro.

The video above shows what it is like viewing panoramic photos using the Apple Vision Pro. Just like the iPhone or Mac, the photos initially look like really wide and really short photos. But click a button on the photo, and suddenly you are surrounded by the photo.

In the video, I also take a few steps back, so you can see the size of the wrap around screen before stepping back into the experience.

Below is the panoramic photo hosted on Squarespace (which compresses the image a lot). Here is a link to a larger 21 MB version hosted on AWS. The original image is 87.9 MB.
